Experience
I am a deeply curious and enthusiastic learner. I hold four degrees: a Bachelor of Arts in Comparative Religion from Westmont College in Santa Barbara, California, a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies (sciences and history) from Western Oregon University, and a Master of Arts in Archaeology and Heritage Studies from the University of Leicester in England. I was born and raised in East Africa, which has influenced my views on education and how to build a healthy society. Because of those and other life experiences, I have developed an appreciation for the societal value of inclusive justice and sustainability. I am a published fiction writer, and have a wide array of teaching experience. I am truly a student of life, and enjoy learning about the history, culture, flora, and fauna of every place I travel or live.I firmly believe that human curiosity is intrinsic, and that all students hold infinite potential for learning and for benefiting society with their unique skills and perspective. I work to learn from my students who they are and how they learn both so that I may assist them in finding their path toward greater knowledge and so that they may provide inspiration and continued learning for me. From my perspective, education is a collaboration; I do not believe it is my job to push my beliefs and knowledge on students, but rather to facilitate their development of their own, unique knowledge.
